A few notable features of the Division are:

  • At the 2006 Census the population within the Division’s area was 182,500.
  • 45% of all professional services provided by General Practitioners in the Division are for patients who reside outside the defined geographic boundary of the Division. One factor contributing to this relatively high proportion is the large number of people coming into the Division during the day to work (particularly in the city centre), some of whom use GPs in the Division.
  • 54 Nursing Homes providing 2923 beds are located in the Division’s service area; the largest nursing home bed supply for aged care in the Adelaide metropolitan area.
  • The Adelaide CBD is included in the Division’s geographic area.
  • Also located within the Division’s area are the majority of private secondary schools, the University of Adelaide, the Medical School, and the University of SA – City East and West Campus.
  • The Nunkuwarrin Yunti Aboriginal Health Service, the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science, the Adelaide Dental Hospital, Glenside Hospital and the majority of private hospitals are also located within the Division’s area.

This is a membership based organisation.
